Golden State Training Center offers a comprehensive curriculum of California State certified security officer coursework and instruction to meet all your licensing needs. Our professional staff has almost a century of combined law enforcement expertise and tactical experience, providing our students with comprehensive and current instruction.
Our facility comprises both classroom and a state of the art 3D digital simulator, which provides students with use of force (baton, pepper spray, Taser ECW, and firearm) decision based interaction and certified firearms qualification/re-qualification opportunities. We are the only northern California training facility to offer the Training System digital simulator to its students. This interactive 3D digital trainer incorporates a reactive response from its subjects/assailants in response to the student’s use of various levels of force toward the interactive screen.
This simulator allows our students to completely immerse themselves into realistic and real time situational incidents, where they can make personal defense decisions, which include application of a baton, pepper spray, Taser ECW, or firearm, in their defense, prior to potential future real life incidents they may find themselves involved. This state of the art digital simulator, brings a whole new level of advanced training to our students.
Live fire weapons training is provided at several off-site firearms facilities, located throughout the north bay area.
In addition to our array of training coursework for security professionals, we also offer basic firearms, advanced pistol, tactical rifle, and personal protection classes.
The majority of all our training curriculum can be hosted off-site with a guaranteed minimum student attendance.
About Our Company
Golden State Training Center was formed in late 2014, in response to a strong desire to provide more comprehensive and applicable training instruction for the private security field. Today, our company is a full service California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services training facility, offering a comprehensive curriculum of private security industry coursework. In addition, our staff of professional instructors, offer civilian training courses covering personal protection and defense, OC/pepper spray, and basic firearms handling, safety, and proficiency.
Our Staff
Golden State Training Centers instructional staff is comprised of retired law enforcement trainers, who have over a century of combined law enforcement expertise and tactical experience. In addition to being California POST (Peace Officer Standards of Training) certified in their respective training disciplines, all of our instructors possess an array of training and education for private security and civilian instruction, which truly sets us apart and above other similar training providers.
John Marty
Master Instructor
Mr. Marty is a recently retired police administrator from a northern California municipal police agency. During his over 30 years of law enforcement experience, promoting through the ranks, Mr. Marty gained vast tactical and critical incident experience in SWAT operations, firearms proficiency, gang enforcement, terrorism and disaster preparation, explosives mitigation, critical incident response, tactical field medicine and stress management/peer counseling; possessing over 3200 hours of certified training in these disciplines.
Mr. Marty is certified as a POST certified Basic Firearms Instructor, Survival Shooting Techniques Instructor, Patrol Rifle Instructor, Active Shooter Response Instructor, Shoothouse Instructor, Less Lethal Munitions Instructor, Chemical Munitions Instructor, Taser Instructor, and Glock Armorer. He holds memberships in numerous related professional organizations and is an NRA Life Member and CPRA member in good standing.
Bob Ferry
Master Instructor
Mr. Ferry has 29 years of law enforcement experience, including 10 years SWAT tactical experience. He served as a field training officer and field supervisor and spent over 20 years as his law enforcement agency’s lead Weaponless Defense/Defensive Tactics Instructor and expert Impact Weapons/Baton Instructor. Mr. Ferry is a graduate of various prestigious POST law enforcement training courses provided by Cameron Consulting, California Department of Justice, Los Angeles Police Department, and Gracie Ju-Jitsu. He is also certified as a law enforcement Ground Fighting Instructor, Crowd Control Instructor and is a Dignitary Security and Protection Specialist.
In his personal time, Mr. Ferry has spent almost 39 years practicing martial arts and currently possesses a 4th degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate. Since 2012, he has owned Northern California Baton and Handcuffing Tactics, LLC.
